Das verheerende Erdbeben vom 6. Februar 2023 erschütterte die Türkei und traf die Region Hatay besonders hart. Das administrative und kulturelle Zentrum der Region, die Stadt Antakya, wurde fast vollständig zerstört. Antakya dessen Anfänge bis etwa 3400 v. Chr. datiert werden, war in der römischen Antike unter dem Namen Antiochia bekannt. Die Stadt wurde in ihrer Geschichte wiederholt von Erdbeben heimgesucht und immer wieder neu aufgebaut. Die Tragödie von 2023 wird als achter Fall von Antakya in die Geschichtsbücher und Legenden eingehen, der Wiederaufbau steht der heutigen Generation noch bevor. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben sich zwei Kunstkollektive der Stadt - Antakya Performative Collective und Janus Artzine - als Reaktion auf das Erdbeben zusammengeschlossen. Um den Wiederaufbau der Stadt zu unterstützen, gründeten sie das Projekt “Sıfır Noktasında Sanat (dt.: Kunst am Nullpunkt)”, das sich auf die heilende Kraft der Kunst im Katastrophengebiet konzentriert. Finanziert durch das Programm VAHA hubs sind seit April 2024 internationale Künstler*innen mit einem Wohnwagen unterwegs, der als mobiler Kunstraum dient. Sie bieten öffentliche Workshops an, organisieren Ausstellungen und kreative Treffen die für alle zugänglich sind. Der Wohnwagen fungiert als Plattform für öffentliche Diskussionen und soll die Gemeinschaft in einen Dialog und Erfahrungen einbinden, die von den Künstler*innen und Organisator*innen vermittelt werden.
Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit sowie Einblicke in das heutige Leben in Antakya werden im September 2024 in der Ausstellung “Art at the Zero Point. Logbook from Antakya” in der Galerie KUB in Leipzig gezeigt.

19 Uhr: Vortrag von Murat Germen (Fotograf, Stadtplaner) über die Vergangenheit und Zukunft Antakyas. Der Fotograf aus Istanbul besuchte Antakya zum ersten Mal im Jahr 2006 und hat seitdem verschiedene Zustände der Stadt dokumentiert. Im Jahr 2023 war er in den ersten Tagen nach dem Erdbeben mit seiner Kamera vor Ort.

The devastating earthquakes on February 6 and February 20, 2023 shook Turkey and hit the Hatay region particularly hard. The administrative and cultural center of the region, the city of Antakya, was almost completely destroyed. The city, which is several thousand years old and was known as Antioch in ancient Roman times, has been repeatedly hit by earthquakes throughout its history and has been rebuilt again and again.
The tragedy of 2023 will go down in history books and legends as the eighth fall of Antakya, with reconstruction still to come for the current generation. In this context, two art collectives in the city - Antakya Performative Collective and Janus Artzine - have joined forces in response to the earthquake. To support the reconstruction of the city, they founded the project „Sıfır Noktasında Sanat (Art at Zero Point)“, which focuses on the healing power of art in the disaster area and to burada ifade ve görünür olma Antakyanin sözünü taşıma. Funded by the VAHA hubs program, international artists have been on the road since April 2024 with a caravan that serves as a mobile art space. They offer public workshops, organize exhibitions and creative meetings that are open to everyone. The caravan acts as a platform for public discussions and aims to engage the community in a dialogue and experiences facilitated by the artists and organizers.
The results of this work, as well as insights into life in Antakya today, will be shown in September 2024 in the exhibition ‘Art at the Zero Point. Logbook from Antakya‘ at the KUB Gallery in Leipzig.

6 ve 20 Şubat 2023’te gerçekleşmiş olan yıkıcı depremler ve özellikle Hatay bölgesini vura-
rak Türkiye‘yi sarstı. Bölgenin idari ve kültürel merkezi olan Antakya kenti ise neredeyse ta-
mamen yıkıldı. Binlerce yıllık geçmişi olan ve Antik Roma döneminde Antakya adıyla anılan
kent, tarihi boyunca defalarca depremlere maruz kalmış ve defalarca yeniden inşa edilmiştir.
2023 trajedisi, tarih kitaplarına ve efsanelere Antakya‘nın sekizinci düşüşü olarak geçecek
ve yeni nesil için yeniden inşa süreci hala devam edecek. Bu bağlamda kentteki iki sa-
nat kolektifi Antakya Performatif Kolektif ve Janus Artzine depreme tepki olarak güçlerini
birleştirdi. Kentin yeniden imarına destek olmak amacıyla, afet bölgesinde sanatın iyileştirici
gücüne odaklanan ve burada ifade ve görünür olma Antakyanın taşınmasını konu alan
„Sıfır Noktasında Sanat“ projesini kurdular. VAHA hub programı tarafından finanse edilen
uluslararası sanatçılar, Nisan 2024‘ten bu yana mobil sanat alanı görevi gören bir karavan-
la yollara çıkıyor. Herkese açık atölye çalışmaları düzenliyor, sergiler ve yaratıcı toplantılar
düzenliyorlar. Karavan, kamusal tartışmalar için bir platform görevi görüyor ve toplumu,
sanatçılar ve organizatörler tarafından kolaylaştırılan bir diyalog ve deneyimlere dahil etmeyi
amaçlıyor.
Bu çalışmanın sonuçları ve Antakya‘nın bugünkü yaşamına dair içgörüler, Eylül 2024‘te
Leipzig KUB Galerisi‘nde „Sıfır Noktasında Sanat. Antakya‘dan Seyir Defteri“ sergisinde
sergilenecekler. Antakya Performatif Kolektif üyesi Leipzig merkezli performans sanatçısı
Emrah Gökdemir, Antakya ekibi ve Leipzig merkezli küratör Olga Vostretsova ile birlikte
sanatsal çalışmalar ve belgelemelerle dikkatleri bir kez daha Antakya‘ya çekmeyi, cesaret ve
umut vermeyi amaçlayan bir serginin küratörlüğünü yapıyor.
